Micky started playing rugby at the age of 6 at a club called "Wharfedale" in the North of England. During his playing career Micky captained both his club and school teams, played for Yorkshire county and progressed to play for the North of England before moving to Seattle in 2001 to play for Old Puget Sound Beach in the Super league.

After settling in Fall City with his wife, Megan, Micky began coaching for the Eastside Lions youth team when his son, Aidan, began to play for the U9’s team. Dear Coach Micky,
We just got the news that I made the EIRA Midwest All-Star team. I would like to thank you for the fantastic coaching that I received from you and Coach Liz and Coach Marie. Without you none of this would have been possible. I was able to play scrumhalf, number 8, flanker, and inside center because you gave me the confidence to play anything. I would like to thank you again for helping me become the well rounded rugby player I am today.
